WILLIE Boylan set up Credentia Construction after working closely on large-scale developments with two other senior project managers.
They saw the opportunity to build a niche business offering total design and construction, including concept, feasibility, managing approvals, cost control and delivery of the final product for smaller clients.
Mr Boylan started the business in the back of a friend’s office, armed with a laptop and mobile phone, and drummed up business by knocking on the doors of clients, architects and project managers with whom he had worked previously.
The business soon found the right fit, with the first project it worked on winning the Masters Builders Excellence award for 2012.
Credentia is now directly invited to tender on projects.
Mr Boylan believes in an open-book approach with his clients, attempting to change the ‘us and them’ mentality between builders and clients.
Credentia Construction supports a number of charities and last year entered a team in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, completing the 200-kilometre ride and raising enough money to put them in the top 15 of highest fundraisers in WA. The business also sponsors the Ocean Reef Junior Football Club.
