Tim Topham is the founder of Kalgoorlie-based drilling contractor Topdrill Resources. He was one of the four First Amongst Equals finalists in the 2019 Business News 40under40 awards and won the Large Business category. New Zealand-born Tim Topham founded Topdrill with his brother in 2005. He has since built Topdrill from one second-hand drill rig with no contracts, to 20 rigs and 200 people. The company has weathered two downturns in the industry, and tripled in size as it purchased equipment in the aftermath of the 2012 crash. One of his aims is to increase the number of women employed by Topdrill, with women comprising 28% of the current Pilbara workforce, and a goal of having its first all-female drilling crew by 2020. Mr Topham has also had wide involvement in sponsoring local programs, including through donations to the Goldfields Children Charity, Royal Flying Doctor Service, sponsoring the Women's Leadership Forum, and the St Barbara's day parade.
