Dr Brendan Kennedy is head of the Bioimaging research and innovation team for Translational Engineering Lab (BRITElab) at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. He is also a senior research fellow at the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering at The University of WA. Dr Kennedy spent more than 9 years working in the area of biomedical optics and led the development of micro-elastography, an optical image technique which differentiates tissues based on their micro-scale stiffness. In 2014, he won a Tall Poppy Award for outstanding contributions to science and communication. In 2015, he was awarded the UWA Vice Chancellor’s Mid-Career Research Award. Dr Kennedy graduated with a Bachelors in Electronic Engineering and a PhD from Dublin City University, Ireland.
