Prue Plowright has always been a highly determined individual and will never back down from a challenge.
She combines her role as a hands-on director of Derby-based contractor Wattnow Electrical with her job as senior medical officer at the Derby Aboriginal Health Service and her responsibilities as a mother and active community member.
With her husband and business partner, Jono, Ms Plowright has taken Wattnow from a sole trader to becoming a successful business with nine employees, including four apprentices.
Wattnow is a majority Aboriginal-owned business (through Jono’s stake), and both the business and Ms Plowright’s medical work are focused on helping the Aboriginal community.
Ms Plowright’s focus at Wattnow has been on business development and marketing, and she is constantly analysing its operations to ensure they are meeting strategic goals and thinking of innovative ways to improve efficiency.
