With 20 years’ experience in hospitality and community services, David Heathwood has successfully combined his two passions. While running his own business, he is committed to improving the social and emotional wellbeing of young people and advocating for increased access to services, funding and resources for youth in regional and remote areas of Western Australia.
Mr Heathwood has lived and worked in some of Australia’s most isolated communities across both the Kimberley and Pilbara regions, managing child, youth and community services programs.
He is the owner and executive chef of Soul Café in Karratha, which actively supports the local community.
Mr Heathwood is also co-founder and project director of Blue Beanie Projects, which was established in 2015 to create sustainable youth services aimed at reducing youth suicide. In addition, he and his wife are foster carers.
