Kelly Carter was the first female (and youngest) vice-president at Gold Fields, the world’s seventh largest gold producer.
A lawyer with 15 years’ experience in both private practice and in-house, she couples a broad base of legal knowledge and skills with strong commercial acumen.
As a member of Gold Fields’ regional executive, Ms Carter plays a key role in the company’s operational performance and regional strategy.
Her breadth of mining industry knowledge was recognised in 2016 when she was invited to present at the Diggers and Dealers conference, making her the first female speaker in more than 10 years.
Ms Carter is passionate about improving women’s participation in all areas of the business and uses public speaking and membership of industry bodies to pursue that cause.
This includes being on the board of the Gold Industry Group, and she also devised and chaired a gender diversity debate in Perth.
