A leading end-to-end service provider for essential power & telecommunications infrastructure employing over 500 people across Australia, GenusPlus Group (ASX:GNP) has grown - organically and through strategic acquisitions - to become one of the country’s leading providers of power infrastructure services.
Today, the Group delivers integrated whole-of-project services through four key operating businesses: Diamond Underground Services, ECM, Powerlines Plus (PLP) and Proton Power.
As an operating principle, GenusPlus invests heavily into training and development of its people - building up a scale- permanent workforce of qualified lines workers and associated trades.
Given the shortage of these critical roles within the industry, this provides the company with a crucial point of difference in the market - as well as allowing it to direct and retain the business’ strong performance culture.
This retention of talent and IP is also fundamental to the Group’s longer-term goal of building strong and enduring client relationships, which obviously generate benefits over time.
In January this year, the Group announced it had secured construction contracts in the resource and power sector from long-term customers, worth a combined value of approximately $23 million.
Its PLP business alone was awarded a project by Hamersley Iron (Rio Tinto) - under a Master Services Contract for Sustaining Capital - for the construction, supply, installation & commissioning of Brockman Nammuldi Lens AB Powerlines; an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with Sino Iron for the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and start-up of a 33kV power line to Eramurra Village; and two EPC contracts with Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) to design, construct, test, install and commission the power and telecommunications infrastructure services at the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Crucially, when installing this key infrastructure at Iron Bridge, PLP will engage the other three companies in the Genus stable - ECM, Diamond Underground Services and Proton Power - as subcontractors to deliver the two-package scope.
Additionally, Genus’ Diamond Underground Services business was awarded a contract from Western Power for the State Underground Power Program in Collier, Western Australia which will replace overhead power lines in established areas with underground power infrastructure.
David Riches, third-generation electrical contractor and the Managing Director of GenusPlus Group, is proud of the company’s broad and deep client base, as well as its continuing focus on the fundamentals.
“I am pleased that the company continues to build on its relationships with our long-term customers” said Mr Riches.
“We remain focused on the safety and quality of our service delivery to all our customers across each of our work sites.”
