Kyckr is a formerly ASX-listed company which owns Global Business Register Limited (GBRDirect), a technology firm which allows customers to get access in real-time to company registries from multiple countries around the globe.
Ben Cronin and Robert Leslie founded the company in Ireland in 2007. Mr Cronin is a former Irish International rugby player and Mr Leslie has been honoured as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum for his work on digital identity and cybersecurity.
The websites, GBRDirect, first went live in 2009 with 18 European countries. From there, it claims to be the leading on-line provider of official live company information electronically sourced through official company registration offices using a single point of access.
Kyckr acquired the business and listed on the ASX in 2016. Kyckr is a derivation of 'know your customer' (KYC), the process of a business identifying and verifying the identity of its clients. The term is also used to refer to the bank and anti-money laundering regulations which governs these activities. Western Australian John Van der Wielen was the inaugural chair.
In late 2022, the company was delisted following its acquisition by RealWise KYK Pty Ltd, and entity wholly owned by Richard Wise.
