She was the Under Secretary General and Associate Administrator for United Nations Development Programme, and has held a variety of executive and non-executive positions at Blackstone Infrastructure Group, Global Water Development Partners, UPL and International Finance Corporation.

Ms Rao-Monari holds a Bachelor of Economics, a Masters in Management Studies, and a Masters in International Affairs and Finance.
