Dr Sue van Leeuwen was a non-executive director of Midwest Port Authority and Kormilda College in the Northern Territory. Her previous board roles included chair of Community Leadership Australia and non-executive director of St John’s Ambulance, Amana Living, McCusker Learning and Development, All Saints College and Anglican Homes Foundation.
Dr van Leeuwen is a Fellow of Australian Institute of Company Director, and has undertaken the Company Directors Diploma and the Mastering the Boardroom program. She has been an accredited facilitator with AICD, a Fellow of Leadership WA, and a Cranlana alumnus.
Dr van Leeuwen has her own consulting business, Amity Leadership and Consulting, and works in the areas of the management of change, reform, productivity, innovation, strategy, governance, leadership development, evaluation and research services. She has contributed at a strategic level to reform and innovation across Western Australia as an independent panel member for the Metropolitan Local Government Review, the Perth Freight Link project, the Social Innovation Grants Program and the Social Enterprise Grants Program.
Dr van Leeuwen was chief executive of Leadership Western Australia, National Research Centre and Swanleigh. She was also Associate Dean Health, Assistant Provost and Associate Dean Business at UNDA. Dr van Leeuwen has an MBA and DBA with her doctoral research focusing on the area of leadership and innovation in the public sector.
She was awarded a Distinguished Alumni Award from Curtin University, and is a Telstra Business Women’s Award Finalist in the categories of Community and Government as well as Business Innovation.
