Shirley In't Veld has over 30 years of experience within the mining, renewables and energy sectors. She was managing director of Verve Energy for 5 years, and spent 10 years in senior roles at Alcoa of Australia and WMC Resources including as vice president of Primary Business Development for Alcoa Australia and managing director of Alcoa Australia Rolled Products.
Ms In’t Veld has also been a non-executive director of DUET Group, NBN Co, APA Group, Karora Resources, DEVELOP Global, Alumina. She was formerly deputy chair of the CSIRO and on the boards of Northern Star Resources & Perth Airport.
Ms In’t Veld was appointed to the Australian Government Takeover Panel in 2016, chair of the Queensland Government Expert Electricity Panel, a member of the Renewable Energy Target Review Panel for the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, a council member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (WA), and an advisory board member of the SMART Infrastructure Facility (University of Wollongong).
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.
