
Scott Lowe is a senior mining executive with over 35 years of experience in the mining industry covering a wide range of commodities and countries.
Prior to becoming the chief executive of Mineral Commodities in September 2023, Mr Lowe was the managing director of Firefinch, project director of South32, chief executive of ArcelorMittal’s West African mining business in Liberia, chief executive of public listed mining exploration and development companies, and held senior management positions in BHP and Peabody Pacific.
During the course of his career, Mr Lowe has worked in a number of African jurisdictions, achieving record production and low costs in an open cut operation in West Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic, managing the start-up of new open cut and underground mines in South Africa and West Africa, and negotiating successful joint ventures with BHP and Glencore. He also has a strong track record in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with employees and unions, government, community and other external stakeholders in Africa that are essential for business success.
Mr Lowe holds a postgraduate qualification in Business Management (MBA) along with tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, a Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Australia), and a Diploma in Marine Terminal Operations from King’s Point Merchant Marine Academy NY USA.
