Rita Saffioti is the Labor Party Member of the Western Australia Legislative Assembly for West Swan.
She was the Minister for Transport, Planning, Lands in the McGowan government following Labor's win in the 2017 state election. After the 2021 state election, she added the Ports portfolio and relinquished the Lands portfolio.
Following the resignation of Mr McGowan in June 2023, Ms Saffioti became the deputy premier of Western Australia, Treasurer and the Minister for Transport and Tourism under the Cook government. She is the first woman from the Labor Party to become deputy premier.
Previously, while in opposition, she served as Shadow Minister for Planning, Finance, Government Accountability, Women's Interests.
