Mark Lane is the chief executive of Surfing WA. He was chief executive of Surfing WA from 2000 to 2006 before becoming chief executive of Surfing Australia from 2006 to 2009, and subsequently returned to Surfing WA as chief executive from June 2010. Mr Lane has over 20 years of experience in strategic planning, management, marketing and organisation development of sporting bodies; in particular, surfing and tourism at local, national and international levels. As chief executive of Surfing WA and Surfing Australia, Mr Lane has liaised with multiple Australian government departments, the International Surfing Association and World Surf League on surfing, safety, events, business planning and new commercial opportunities.
