Gaye McMath is a former senior executive at the University of Western Australia where she spent 12 years and held the roles of executive director of the Perth Education City project, chief operating officer, executive director of finance and resources, and chief financial officer. Previously, she spent three years as chief financial officer of Murdoch University.
Prior to joining the higher education sector, Ms McMath had a 23-year career with BHP Billiton where she held a range of senior executive roles in finance, strategy, planning, commercial and treasury operations within the minerals, steel and corporate divisions.
Ms McMath served as a City of Perth commissioner since March 2018 and was appointed deputy chair. Her term ended in October 2020 with the appointment of Basil Zempilas as Lord Mayor.
