David Netherway is a mining engineer with over 35 years of experience in the mining industry. He has been involved in the construction and development of various mines in West Africa and has mining experience in Africa, Australia, China, Canada, India and the Former Soviet Union.
Mr Netherway was, until the 2010 takeover by Gryphon Minerals, the chief executive of Shield Mining, an Australian listed company exploring for gold and base metals in Mauritania. He has also held senior management positions in a number of mining companies including Golden Shamrock Mines, Equigold, Ashanti Goldfields and Semafo.
