Alex McGlue acts for landowners, property developers and community groups in relation to all aspects of property ownership and development. He appears regularly in high profile court and tribunal proceedings and also provides strategic and commercially relevant written advice on complex legal issues.
Mr McGlue has been recognised by the Doyle’s Guide 2016 as being a national Rising Star in the discipline of planning and environmental law.
In the area of town planning law, he regularly appears in merits review proceedings in the State Administrative Tribunal, judicial review and appeal proceedings in the Supreme Court and planning prosecutions in the Magistrates Court. Mr McGlue also advises clients in relation to development and subdivision applications, and presents deputations on behalf of clients at JDAP meetings. In relation to environmental law, he regularly advices in relation to both State and Federal environmental legislation, including the EP Act and the EPBC Act, particularly in relation to environmental approvals.
Mr McGlue also has significant expertise in relation to contaminated sites issues including advice on the Contaminated Sites Act and advocacy before the Contaminated Sites Committee. He has also acted for acquiring authorities and has appeared in the High Court as instructing solicitor on a land compensation appeal.
