The Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre was established in 2015 by founding sponsors Telethon, Lotterywest and the Western Australian State Government in response to the mounting need for better support for children with type 1 diabetes and their families.
The Family Centre won the Outstanding Charity Award at the 2018 Australian Charity Awards.
In 2018, the Family Centre expanded its services to include young adults and adults, responding to the need for lifelong support for a lifelong medical condition. It is a hub, providing holistic clinical care alongside warm and friendly social support, a dynamic calendar of community events, mind-expanding information and education services.
