Krishna Somers was a South African cardiologist of Indian descent who lived the last four decades of his life in Perth after a career in the UK and Uganda. In Perth, he taught at the University of Western Australia and Royal Perth Hospital. Dr Somer's key interests were Endomyocardial Fibrosis and cardiovascular disease in warm climates.
On his death in 2018, he bequeathed roughly $41 million to a charitable trust for the benefit of 12 nominated charities, including Silver Chain, Medicins Sans Frontieres and several charities for the assistance of refugees.
