No longer just a futuristic concept, AI is a powerful tool that's transforming industries and playing an increasingly significant role in shaping how organisations operate.
A business area which has seen this significant change is Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Used to manage core business processes and serve as the backbone for many businesses, these systems are now being enhanced by AI technologies, helping businesses to streamline operations and improve decision-making. Traditionally, these platforms rely on rule-based automation and business logic to manage data entry, reporting, and process management.
Now, AI technologies like machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and predictive analytics are being augmented into ERP systems. This means businesses of any size and industry can start to utilise these tools in their business processes and operations to make more data driven decisions, improve efficiency and adopt faster to the changing market.
However, businesses shouldn’t be blindly adopting AI into their business. You need to understand the ‘why’ and ‘what’ behind this decision. Is it to drive customer value? Is it to drive efficiencies in your business? Is it to improve employee satisfaction?
More importantly, you should also consider the business intelligence (BI) which sits behind the AI – how do you trust the insights that have been generated? And how do you trust the data that you are feeding into these algorithms? Being able to verify this information is key.
Since ERP systems generate a multitude of data, this is where the right BI strategy and platform is essential as it can help ensure the data you are collecting will lead to beneficial insights and be the right foundation for AI tools.
How this looks in practise
At Pronto Software, our Pronto Xi ERP has incorporated BI reporting functionality, powered by IBMTM CognosTM Analytics, allowing customers to self-create and report on real-time data across every aspect of the business creating powerful and meaningful insights. AI technology streamlines the extraction and organisation of this data from Pronto Xi, presenting it through dynamic graphs and reports. With predictive analytics, users can also analyse large datasets to forecast future trends or shifts in demand, enabling businesses to stay agile and make confident, data driven decisions.
With its natural language AI assistant, you can simply describe the question you need the answer to or a hypothesis you want to test, and let the AI build stunning insight-driven visualisations. It can also deliver responses that support learning and development of the Pronto Xi platform with ease, providing instant technical responses.
Create visualisations simply by dragging fields onto the canvas and letting the AI automatically determine the best way to display that information. Also build repeatable and consistent data modules to publish to your users, giving them everything they require. Fully harness the depth of the IBM WatsonTM AI engine* to derive forecasts and key data drivers to uncover hidden insights rapidly.
To further help our customers, Pronto Software also has a dedicated team of Business Intelligence and AI professionals who can take your business strategy and process, and help you craft the right infrastructure, visualisations and insights that will help your organisation reach its goals.
Embracing the future with BI and AI in ERPs
Artificial intelligence is significantly reshaping business operations, especially within the context of ERP systems. By harnessing their business intelligence first to leverage the full potential of AI any business can not only streamline their operations but also deliver better customer experiences, optimise resources, and make smarter, more agile decisions.
