Nokturnl Events was started by Drew Flanagan and Ross Drennan to run a New Year’s Eve party on the Matilda Bay Foreshore in 2010. Nokturnl then went on to start Oktoberfest in the Gardens in 2011 which became the largest touring cultural festival in the country and one of the largest Oktoberfest celebrations outside of Munich.
It has events in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle.
In June 2018, Nokturnl purchased the derelict heritage buildings at 92 South Terrace, Fremantle and by November 2019 had opened The Old Synagogue hospitality precinct. The success of that outlet was followed by The Beaufort in Highgate which opened in March 2022.
In 2024 Nokturnl opened two new precincts: The Station in South Perth's Civic Heart project and Stories in Yagan Square, Perth CBD.
Nokturnl's signature style in these precincts has been to house multiple venues under one roof, often featuring hidden venues like secret bars and speakeasies.
