Andy Wood Regional Leader, Defence & Intelligence - Asia, Microsoft

Andy Wood is the Regional Leader for Microsoft’s Defence and Intelligence business across Asia. Leveraging his deep government knowledge and experience, Andy helps guide and mentor governments and defence organisations across Asia meet the challenges in the new world of digital.

An award-winning technology and transformation specialist, Andy was previously Microsoft’s Civilian Government Lead for Australia & New Zealand and has held multiple Executive Director roles within the Western Australian Government. His expertise lies in crafting the strategies and culture required to drive enduring value for nations, enterprises, citizens and employees.

Prior to joining the WA Public Sector, Andy spent seven years as a Director with global outsourcing firm Serco, leading their Citizen Services business in Western Australia.

With 15 years’ senior executive experience spanning banking, superannuation, professional services and the public sector, Andy is specifically attuned to the challenges digital disruption brings to nations and societies - and, more importantly, its potential impact on individuals, teams, commercial organisations and government entities.

Andy holds an MBA, specialising in Leadership, Innovation and Creativity. In 2018, Andy was recognised by CIO Australia as one of the top 50 digital leaders in the country as well as being named Gold CXO Disruptor of the Year by the Australian Computer Society.

In March 2021, Andy was awarded the prestigious Western Australian 40under40 award in recognition of his public service and achievements in transforming public sector services. In 2022, Business News identified Andy as one of the Power500 - an elite and exclusive group comprising the most powerful and influential people in Western Australia.
