Troy Georgiu has finished up as Perth Wildcats' chief executive after the NBL trailblazer fell short of a finals berth for the first time since the 1980s.
Mr Georgiu had held the role since 2017.
Confirming his departure this afternoon, Craig Hutchison, who leads the team's owner, Sports Entertainment Group, thanked Mr Georgiu for his services.
"We will now look to appoint the best possible candidate to ensure we remain the envy of not only the NBL, but all sporting organisations across the country," Mr Hutchison said.
“I am extremely confident this role will be a highly sought-after position given our standing as an iconic and highly regarded organisation."
The Wildcats were acquired by SEG from the late Jack Bendat in August 2021 for $8.5 million, with SEG deriving close to $5 million in revenue and $287,000 net profit from the team in the six months to December.
While the team fell short of finals in the 2021-22 season, it is arguably the most successful team in NBL history after having played in every finals series since 1986.
