A number of familiar faces have returned to the WACA board, which was announced during last month’s 2025 annual general meeting.
A total of 17 nominations were received, with four spots up for grabs on the Gail McGowan-chaired board.
Dr Michael Gannon, Brad Hogg and John Inverarity were all successfully re-elected, while former board member and WA/Australian player Michael Veletta returns.
On Friday morning at Optus Stadium, WA Cricket chief executive John Stephenson also provided an update regarding ticket sales for the upcoming Ashes Test opener between Australia and England next month.
“The way it’s tracking, day and two are totally sold out,” he said.
“Actually, the only way if you want to come to day one or two is to become a WACA member. Day three is tracking that way as well.
“And as we see the game develop – and that’s the key to day one really – if we get a build up and traction in the game, day four and five will look after themselves.”
Mr Stephenson said he was also encouraged by early demand for the Australia-India one day international, which will be held on October 19 at Optus Stadium.
“The latest figure I’ve got is 40,000 – for an ODI in October, I think that’s incredible,” he said.
“So it shows just how popular the game is and how lucky we are to have several formats.”
Prior to the five-Test Ashes series between November 21 and January 8, Australia will lock horns with India in a three-game ODI series and a five-game T20 series.
Public ticket allocation for the T20 game on October 31 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was exhausted earlier this week, with around 175,000 tickets having already been sold across all Australia-India matches.
