New data from the Center for World University Rankings revealed the University of Western Australia had come in at 150th, or in the top 0.8 per cent, out of 2,000 universities globally.
It marked an improvement of two places from the previous year, scoring 80.1 points.
Nationally, UWA has ranked seventh in the country behind Australian National University and ahead of the University of Adelaide.
Curtin University cracked the top 10 nationally, coming in at ninth place in front of University of Technology Sydney and placing 333rd in the world rankings, seven spots ahead of its ranking in the previous year with 76.3 points.
Murdoch University dropped back from 837th place last year to 848th globally for 2023 with 71.4 points and came in at 25th nationally.
Edith Cowan University was hot on the heels of its competitor, taking 26th place nationally and progressing to 956th place in global rankings.
Number one in Australia was the University of Melbourne followed by the University of Sydney, with both improving their positions in the global ladder from last year.
