Western Australia has recorded 13 new local cases of COVID-19 overnight, as the Coolbellup cluster continues to grow.
According to WA Health, ten of the 13 new cases are linked to the cluster in Perth's south, including eight household contacts and two close contacts.
The other two cases are connected to the Safety Bay cluster and Willagee IGA.
But health authorities are still working to determine the source of the thirteenth case, recorded in the South West.
It is understood the case, who is from the Greater Bunbury Region, was infectious while in the community.
The state’s ever growing list of potential exposure sites is expected to exceed 160 by the end of the day, as contact tracers review the movements of the most recent cases.
The cases, all of whom are now in quarantine, take the state’s total number of active cases to 96.
Two new cases have also been recorded among returned travellers.
The news comes after the state recorded 24 new local cases yesterday, with the Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson acknowledging that it was unlikely WA would be able to eliminate the Omicron strain.
She pleaded with Western Australians to remain vigilant and to get tested.
The latest outbreak has resulted in the formation of several clusters throughout the Perth metropolitan area, including in Cockburn, Willagee, Coolbellup, Armadale and Safety Bay.
