Cloud based telco and communications player, Vonex, has filed a new application with the Australian Patent Office to secure additional intellectual property protection over the unique message functionality of its game-changing “Oper8tor” communications app.
Oper8tor is designed to enable users of multiple communications platforms such as Skype, Whatsapp and others to communicate with each other in real-time, regardless of the platform used by different individuals.
The app aims to seamlessly link all voice calls as well as messaging across multiple platforms and devices.
Vonex said that extended testing of Oper8tor had highlighted the opportunity to further develop key elements of the platform more thoroughly to stabilise the app’s performance at scale.
This requirement stems from the increased complexity of two-factor authentication, a security feature that is now common amongst social media platforms.
Vonex has also elected to write its own code for a broader range of tasks than was initially envisioned to ensure that it can control the stability of several key Oper8tor elements.
These elements include third‐party connections, consistency of functionality across different manufacturers’ devices and adherence to Android’s recently imposed requirement to provide 64‐bit versions of apps.
The company expects to complete the work in the fourth quarter of 2019, after which it will commence execution of its planned marketing and commercialisation strategy for Oper8tor, with an initial launch in Australia.
Following the Australian launch, Vonex will move to commercialise the app in the European market where the company expects to generate revenue from advertising and in‐app purchases.
