East Rockingham-based WA Kaolin has appointed Matthew Shackleton as its chair, effective immediately.
Mr Shackleton, who joined the company’s board alongside Catherine Lynch last month, has substantial financial and executive-based experience - and has held major roles with the likes of Bannerman, Canyon Resources and DRCM Global Investors.
“The board of WA Kaolin have worked with a singular purpose since Catherine Lynch and I joined the company and are fortunate to have a breadth of skills that now allow our managing director Alf Baker to focus on the optimisation of the Wickepin plant and mine operations,” he said.
The appointment follows on from news last week that board member Sean Hu had tendered his resignation prior to the company’s AGM, following the resignations of Ken Hall (director) and Brady Hall (alternate director) in October.
On September 12, Mr Baker assumed the role of temporary chair, following the resignation and retirement of Dr John White.
Dr White told the company he elected to retire in order for the junior to pursue and appoint directors closer to its flagship Wickepin kaolin project, located 220km from Perth.
During the September 2025 quarter, WA Kaolin generated record sizeable increases in both sales volume (13,858 tonnes) and sales revenue ($2.74 million), which the junior said was due to both increased demand and its ongoing ramp up of production capacity.
WA Kaolin closed trade up 6 per cent to 3.7 cents.
