Carbon abatement company SeaStock has officially opened its Fremantle headquarters, adding to a year of milestones, which included being a runner up at the Innovator of the Year awards.
SeaStock produces concentrated natural bioactive compounds derived from Asparagopsis seaweed, which it grows on land.
The concentrate can then be used in a cattle feed product that, when digested, significantly reduces methane formed in the gut, and therefore emissions.
And now the company has officially opened its Fremantle facility, with SeaStock managing director Tom Puddy thanking the state government for its support.
“Today marks an important milestone for SeaStock with the official opening of our headquarters,” he said.
“We are incredibly grateful to Minister Dawson for recognising the significance of our work and for the government’s support through initiatives like the Founders Factory and, at the federal level, the Industry Growth Program, which has been instrumental in helping us achieve major milestones.
Science Minister Stephen Dawson, who was at the opening, said Seastock was a shining example of WA’s leadership in sustainable industries.
“Their work in marine science not only showcases WA’s potential on the global stage but also demonstrates the power of innovation solutions in addressing critical challenges like methane emission,” he said.
SeaStock has hit several milestones this year, including the first commercial sale of its methane-reducing bromoform; a $1.5 million capital raise; and being named as a participant in the inaugural Founders Factory Nature Tech accelerator program.
