Santos has hired former Woodside executive Sherry Duhe as its new chief financial officer, marking the experienced executive’s return to the oil and gas sector.
Ms Duhe most recently held the same position with goldminer Newcrest Mining before acting as interim chief executive during the major sale process to Newmont.
She previously spent four years with Santos’ rival Woodside, after holding numerous roles at Shell across 13 years. She got her start at Exxon Mobil.
At Santos, Ms Duhe will be replacing chief financial officer Anthea McKinnell, who is retiring after more than five years steering the company’s financials.
Chief executive of the oil and gas company, Kevin Gallagher, is also a former Woodside executive, alongside Santos’ executive vice president- WA Vince Santostefano.
Speaking on the appointment, Mr Gallagher said he was delighted that Ms Duhe was joining the Santos executive leadership team.
“Sherry’s demonstrated financial capability, knowledge of the complex and dynamic energy and financial markets in which Santos operates, and experience in engaging with investors, capital markets and governments, positions her well to support the Santos management team and board of directors in delivering superior value for our shareholders into the future,” he said.
Ms Duhe will start in the role in mid-October.
Late last year Santos and Woodside revealed they were in merger talks which would have created a more than $80 billion energy major, but those early-stage discussions fell through.
