Blaine Slater has been appointed chief executive of the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia, following Cath Hart’s resignation in May.
Ms Hart had spent three years in the role before moving to become managing director of her own consultancy Rubicon IndoPacific.
Mr Slater was chief operating officer of TSA Group and had worked at the business process outsourcing company since 2005.
REIWA president Suzanne Brown said in a statement today the institute was delighted to welcome Mr Slater.
“Blaine is a strategic, values-driven executive with 20 years of progressive leadership at TSA Group,” she said.
“He has the skills, mindset, and energy to help drive our business forward in a constantly changing real estate landscape.
“In addition, he brings a fresh perspective from outside the real estate industry, paired with deep experience in leading complex organisations and working closely with subject matter experts.”
Mr Slater said he looked forward to the opportunity to lead REIWA.
"REIWA is an iconic WA brand and a leading voice in the WA real estate industry,” he said.
“I’m excited to work with the REIWA council, the REIWA team, and our members to build on this legacy and to help guide our advocacy efforts on key issues facing the industry, particularly rental reforms, including no grounds terminations, the upcoming anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism reforms, and housing supply challenges.”
REIWA chief operating officer Kalien Selby has been acting chief executive and Mr Slater will begin on November 17.
REIWA said the recruitment process drew national and international interest.
