Mining services provider Perenti has secured its second major contract for the month after receiving an extension of works for a goldminer operating in Burkina Faso.
The $200 million contract has been awarded to African Underground Mining Services (AUMS) – a division of Perenti’s underground mining contractor, Barminco.
It comes one day after Western Areas awarded a $200 million contract to Barminco for work at the Odysseus nickel mine, which is part of Western Areas’ Cosmos operations in the Goldfields.
Barminco, through AUMS, will continue work for another two years at Canadian company Roxgold's Yaramoko goldmine, located 200 kilometres southwest of Burkina Faso’s capital city, Ouagadougou.
The extension of work brought AUMS’ contracted work-in-hand to $350 million at the end of last month.
AUMS has operated at the site since 2015.
Perenti managing director Mark Norwell said extending existing contracts and winning new work was aligned with the group’s 2025 strategy.
“We very much value the Roxgold and AUMS relationship and we look forward to continuing to deliver for our client,” he said.
Perenti shares closed up 1.7 per cent higher to trade at $1.18 each.
