The University of Notre Dame Australia has appointed former Myer and CEDA chair Paul McClintock as its next chancellor, to replace Chris Ellison.
The University of Notre Dame Australia has appointed former Myer and CEDA chair Paul McClintock as its next chancellor, to replace Chris Ellison.
Mr McClintock will start at the university on January 1, upon Mr Ellison’s, a former federal cabinet minister, term as chancellor expiring.
In its statement, the university said Mr McClintock has a distinguished record of leadership and service in the public and private sectors.
The University of Notre Dame operates campuses in Fremantle, Broome and Sydney, where Mr McClintock is based.
Mr McClintock previously chaired healthcare provider Icon Group, Myer, the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia, Medibank Private, and New South Wales ports.
He will join the university after serving as chair at St Vincent’s Health Australia for the past six years.
Mr McClintock was Secretary to the federal cabinet and head of the Cabinet Policy Unit from 2000 to 2003.
He has been a director of Catholic Health Australia, the Health Insurance Commission and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.
“The university warmly welcomes Mr McClintock to the position of chancellor,” University of Notre Dame said in its announcement.
“His experience, integrity and commitment will be great assets for the university as it enters the next chapter of its growth and achievement.”
The university also thanked Mr Ellison, who has been chancellor since January 2018.
“We are very grateful to Chris for his sustained hard work over the past eight years as Chancellor and for the vital contribution he has made to the University through a period of extraordinary development,” the university said.
