The Palmer United Party's Queensland division has been registered under the name United Australia Party, Mr Palmer said in a statement this morning.
"There's a new force to be reckoned with in Queensland in the United Australia Party," he said.
The mining billionaire was forced to change the name of his party federally to the Palmer United Party last month to avoid a legal battle with the Australian Electoral Commission.
A group of Brisbanites had already applied to register the Uniting Australia Party, and AEC rules say a new party can be knocked back if it can be mistaken for a "recognised political party".
Mr Palmer maintains he was blocked from using his preferred party name by the two mainstream federal parties, Labor and the Coalition.
The Queensland mining magnate has recruited NRL legend Glenn Lazarus and a number of other candidates to contest seats in the upcoming federal election.
