The East Fremantle Football Club has unveiled its new board, which includes several familiar faces.
Prominent financial figure and seasoned executive Ennio Tavani was elected president, following news earlier in the month that Mark Stewart would not be seeking re-election.
Mr Stewart spent 10 years as club president and 19 on the board.
Joining Mr Tavani on the board for the next two seasons will be re-elected director Con Tripi, along with three household names who have achieved success both on and off the field for the blue and whites.
One of these names is respected four-time WAFL premiership coach Tony Micale, who coached the Sharks to premiership glory in 1998 against West Perth.
During Mr Micale’s four years coaching the Sharks, they reached two grand finals, and only finished as low as third. He also played for the club during the 1970s.
A prominent member of Sport FM’s WAFL coverage, Mr Micale routinely spoke passionately about the club’s ongoing lease negotiations with the Town of East Fremantle following the completion of $34 million East Fremantle Community Park re-development project.
Between 2022 and 2024, the club didn’t play a true home game, due to its traditional Moss Street home being under construction. This impacted the club’s finances, losing $322,104 in 2022 and $139,924 in 2023.
East Fremantle has yet to publicly release its financial result or annual report for the 2024 season.
Joining Mr Micale on the board will be former Sharks player Jon Stagg, a wingman who played 102 games for the club during the 1990s, along with Darren Gaspar.
Last month, the Sharks confirmed Adrian Bromage, who completed a Sandover and Simpson Medal double for the club in 1998 during Micale's final year as coach, had been appointed permanent chief executive officer, following a brief interim period.
Mr Bromage, initially appointed as general manager of football operations, transitioned into the interim CEO role following the departure of Addy Wetzler.
The vacant GM of football operations position was subsequently filled by 2000 Brownlow medalist and former Sharks on-baller Shane Woewodin, who originally hails from the mid-west, which is part of East Fremantle’s country recruiting zone.
