Meeka launches Western Australian drilling assault

Meeka Gold Limited has launched a 7,000 metre aircore and RC drilling campaign at its Circle Valley gold project in the Albany-Fraser Mobile Belt in WA following up multiple gold hits intersected in 2021 drilling. Drill targeting will chase up a mineralised area defined through previous drilling and soil sampling that spans 1.2 kilometres by 400m. Aircore drilling in 2021 produced some solid results including a 12m section grading 1.05 grams per tonne gold within a 23m mineralised envelope going 0.64 g/t gold from 12m downhole.

Other notable drill results from aircore drilling in 2021 conducted at Circle Valley include a four metre section going 1.49 g/t gold within a wider 24m parcel at 0.38 g/t gold from 12m downhole.

The company says that end of hole multi-element geochemistry analysis conducted on samples in last year’s aircore drilling campaign points to a ‘Tropicana style’ pathfinder geochemistry.

Mineralisation at Circle Valley occurs below shallow transported cover within gently folded east-west trending magnetic fabrics within a magnetic fold closure.

The Circle Valley gold project is situated along the Albany-Fraser Mobile Belt that runs from approximately 100km east of Esperance northeast to the 7.1million ounce Anglogold Ashanti and Regis Resources owned Tropicana gold deposit.

Meeka Gold says the gold intercepts from aircore drilling are exciting however, the end of hole geochemistry signatures that point towards Tropicana style mineralisation are the real prize. The company says the end of hole geochemistry results possibly indicate the presence of a larger mineralised system lurking below.

The follow-up phase of drilling recently commenced will test the extensions to the already outlined mineralised system by stepping out lines of aircore drilling to the west of the Anomaly A prospect, which remains open in three directions.

A series of deeper RC drill holes are also planned to follow up anomalous aircore results to test mineralisation potential in the fresh rock below the shallow regolith profile. The blade of an aircore drill rig usually cannot penetrate through fresh rock so RC drilling is required to probe deeper where the aircore rig is forced to stop.

Meeka Gold Limited Chief Executive Officer, Tim Davidson said: “Further to the drilling that is now underway, we have engaged specialist geophysics and geochemistry professionals who are reviewing the available data and providing insight into the style of mineralisation and controls on this mineralisation, which is assisting in guiding our approach to exploration on this tenure.”

With a successful 2021 drilling program setting the scene for a plethora of drill targets to chase up, Meeka Gold will be smashing out the drill metres while hoping the Albany-Fraser Mobile Belt can produce yet another gold behemoth, this time under its name.
