Tambourah Metals’ maiden drill program at the company’s namesake gold project in the Pilbara region of WA has confirmed and extended its geological model for the goldfield and also highlighted new targets.
The first campaign at the Tambourah gold and lithium project comprised 2527m of RC drilling at five of its gold prospects — Tambourah King, Western Chief, Western Chief south, Federal and Kushmattie.
The Federal target returned assay highlights of a 4m hit going 1.8 grams per tonne gold from 48m including a 1m section reading an impressive 5.31 g/t from 50m.
The company says the Federal line comprises sporadic shallow historic workings that have never previously been drill tested.
Headline results at the Tambourah King target showed a 22m hit going 1.38 g/t gold from 22m including a 3m section at 7.78 g/t from 27m.
A deeper section from the same hole recorded a 2m intercept reading 6.58 g/t gold from 38m including an outstanding 1m hit going 8.86 g/t from 39m.
Selected assays from Western Chief, Western Chief south and Kushmattie all recorded hits above 1 g/t gold with mineralisation open at depth.
The company says the latest modelling of the recent and historic drill results supports the geological model for Tambourah of narrow, plunging, well-defined high-grade shoots.
Tambourah Metals Executive Chairman, Rita Brooks said: “This maiden drill program at the Tambourah goldfield has confirmed the company’s geological model and extended the known mineralisation past expectations. These results provide the company with the confidence to continue our proposed exploration programs during Q4 2022.”
The mineralisation at Tambourah comprises 35 individual historic workings within 16 named prospects.
The company says its next step is to begin first-pass drilling at the World’s Fair and Young Australian targets and undertake an induced polarisation survey to potentially extend mineralisation.
Just last month rock chip samples from three recently discovered pegmatite sites at Tambourah returned elevated rubidium and lithium results.
The 17 samples were assayed at Labwest for a full suite of pegmatite elements, with 12 recording between 151 and 842 parts per million rubidium and another four samples returning lithium grades between 96 and 226 ppm.
The Tambourah project is about 80km from the operating world-class Pilgangoora lithium mine and its neighbouring Wodgina lithium deposits underline the region’s lithium potential.
Tambourah Metals says it is working towards completing first-pass sampling of the pegmatites at the project as it looks to boost its lithium prospectivity.
