The nation’s peak business group has revealed the four top priorities for small business in the upcoming federal election.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA chief executive James Pearson said the state’s business community was standing beside employers from other states and territories in the nationwide lobby campaign.
Mr Pearson said business was calling on the government or the coalition to cut red tape, simplify the tax system, make it easier to employ staff and build better infrastructure.
“At a time when WA businesses need to be more competitive, firms are spending too much time and money on compliance with is often unnecessary,” Mr Pearson said.
“Duplicated state and commonwealth regulations need to be streamlined.”
Mr Pearson said the tax system was another barrier for WA business growth, with issues arising with its complexity.
He said making it easier for employers to attract and retain staff would help projects go ahead on time and on budget, and deliver wealth and jobs to the businesses that support them.
“We need a commitment from the next federal government to boost productivity by addressing these big four policy issues that can’t be ignored.”
