Labor leader Mark McGowan has announced his new shadow cabinet and created a portfolio to address cost of living pressures.
Portfolios to focus on the Suburbs, Economic Reform and Early Childhood have also been created.
Mr McGowan said the cost of living had become such a major issue, it needed its own portfolio.
"It's the number one issue facing West Australians and it will be the number one issue of the election," he said.
"Ben Wyatt will ensure that WA Labor gives the issue the attention it deserves and, together with the Treasury portfolio, will be able to take up the issues after four long years of the (Colin) Barnett Government prices rises."
Mr Wyatt will also hold the portfolios for Indigenous Affairs and Native Title.
Mr McGowan will retain the Regional Development portfolio and will also take responsibility for Economic Reform.
"WA Labor believes regions must be elevated to the leader's portfolio due to their importance in driving the WA economy and I would retain that portfolio should I become Premier," he said.
"Furthermore, Mick Murray, Jon Ford and Sally Talbot will become regional ministers."
Ken Travers has been handed the new portfolio of Suburbs to add to his current roles of Transport and Finance.
Michelle Roberts' experience has been recognised with her being named Manager of Opposition Business and was also given the Police portfolio.
"If there was anyone left in WA who thought Rob Johnson was a competent minister, Michelle Roberts will convince them otherwise," Mr McGowan said.
Sue Ellery will take control the new Early Childhood portfolio while Paul Papalia will take on Education.
"Paul served his country in two Iraq wars and the energy and passion he shows for policy should continue to show up the retiring Education Minister Liz Constable," Mr McGowan said.
He said Margaret Quirk would have responsibility for Emergency Services, Bushfire Response, Electoral Affairs and Seniors and Volunteering.
"The Barnett Government's handling of fires and emergency response has been nothing short of disastrous and I want Margaret's undoubted forensic skills directed to examining that area closely," Mr McGowan said.
WA Labor's new leader also welcomed two new members to the shadow cabinet, Peter Tinley and Bill Johnston.
"Both Peter and Bill have been handed senior economic portfolios and I'm sure they'll both do excellent jobs in delivery of Labor's policies in these areas," he said.
Mr Tinley will be responsible for Planning, Housing and Local Jobs while Mr Johnston will cover Energy and State Development.
