ASX-listed explorer King River Resources says drilling has encountered a new high-grade gold zone west of the Trudi Main epithermal quartz vein deposit at its Mount Remarkable gold project about 200 kilometres south-west of Kununurra in WA’s north-east Kimberley region. Its latest batch of drilling results from Trudi Main were headlined by an intersection of 6 metres at an average grade of 5.25 grams per tonne gold including 1m at 30.1 g/t.
Perth-based King River recently finished drilling a total of 33 RC holes for an aggregate of 2,310m at Mount Remarkable. Assays remain pending for 11 of those holes.
The 6m going 5.25 g/t from 8m including 1m at 30.1 g/t from 9m down-hole hit came from 5m RC grid drilling on the western portion of the Trudi Main epithermal quartz vein deposit.
It was also accompanied by an encouraging intercept of 14m at 2.23 g/t gold from 8m including 2m at 8.85 g/t from 17m. Gold mineralisation remains open to the west and at depth on a westerly plunge, the company says.
According to King River, the new intersections continue to point to a fertile high-grade epithermal quartz vein gold system at Mount Remarkable.
Drilling undertaken by King River at Mount Remarkable in 2018 returned a clutch of spectacular near-surface, high-grade gold hits including a cracking RC hole that went 4m grading 113.29 g/t including 1m at 346 g/t – or more than 10 ounces to the tonne – and a diamond hole unmasking 6m at 60 g/t gold including 2.8m at 108 g/t.
Other bonanza RC intercepts from the earlier drilling were 4m at 39.78 g/t including 1m at 82.7 g/t, 4m at 36.77 g/t including 1m at 70.9 g/t, and 3m at 34.8 g/t including 1m at 50.5 g/t.
A statement issued by the company directors on the latest set of results said: “The geological nature of this style of deposit often shows repetition of very high-grade zones staggered along a known mineralised fault zone. With our better understanding of the geology, King River Resources will now be planning on a more systematic RC drilling approach along strike in both the new west and east offset directions along the Trudi zone.”
Previous grid drilling carried out by King River had focused on extending and identifying new high-grade zones on the eastern side of the Trudi deposit. The company says follow-up RC drilling will now be aimed at testing the along-strike extent of the Trudi Main epithermal quartz vein deposit, both to the west and to the east, down to a maximum depth of approximately 100m.
King River’s round of drilling completed late last year also picked up some intriguing gold sniffs at the Trudi Offset prospect, 150m east of the main Trudi gold-bearing zone, and at the Jeniffer North prospect.
A best assay of 2m at an average grade of 2.87 g/t from 107m including 1m at 4.34 g/t from 108m was returned from Trudi Offset.
