King River reveals WA gold potential along 150km strike

Reconnaissance sampling by ASX-listed, King River Resources has unveiled elevated levels of gold, copper and silver from several areas scattered along more than 150 kilometres strike of the prospective Whitewater Volcanic rocks. Located at the company’s Mt Remarkable tenure in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, grades going as high as 7.01 grams per tonne gold and 2.3 per cent copper were returned.

The underexplored Whitewater Volcanic  suite of rocks are already renowned for hosting high-grade gold mineralisation in the region. The prospective rocks extend from King River’s high-grade intercepts for more than 70km in a north-easterly direction toward the Hunter project, held by exploration company, WA Mining Resources. Reportedly, grades going as high as 50.65 g/t gold were returned at Hunter in the past.

Previous drilling by King River at its Mt Remarkable prospect, in the central part of its broader tenure, returned a 4-metre intercept going an eye-catching 113.29 g/t gold, including 1m at a bonanza 346 g/t gold.

Other high-grade hits from past drilling at the prospect include 6m at 60 g/t gold, 4m at 39.78 g/t gold and 4m at 36.77 g/t gold.

To the south-west of King River’s past drilling, the Whitewater Volcanic rocks stretch for about 100km.

The company has been conducting initial helicopter reconnaissance sampling along more than 150km strike of the host rocks at its tenure.

Elevated levels of mineralisation have now been confirmed at the Tunganary prospect and at the nearby Middle Branch prospect in the south-west part of its landholdings.

At Middle Branch, the company has identified an area of exposed Whitewater Volcanics with multiple epithermal vein structures.

King River says all samples taken from the veins returned anomalous gold, including one grab sample that delivered 7.01 g/t gold from a quartz vein of between 3m and 4m width. Grades going as high as 0.48 g/t gold were also returned from three other veins at Middle Branch.

The company plans further reconnaissance works at Middle Branch to better define potential targets for drill-testing in the future.

At Tunganary, multiple quartz veins have also been identified with sampling of only two veins returning 0.6 g/t gold and 0.25 per cent copper. King River has prioritised Tunganary for further exploration works, including detailed mapping and subsequent field-based reconnaissance.

Some 150km north-east, King River has also delivered anomalous copper, silver and antimony at its Hunter West project, just 2km west from WA Mining Resources’ high-grade Hunter project.

Sampling of several veins at Hunter West has unveiled mineralisation going as high as 2.3 per cent copper, 39.5 parts per million silver and 286ppm antimony. In the vicinity, at other prospective areas, anomalous gold mineralisation was also returned.

The company’s 100-per cent owned Mt Remarkable tenure combines for nearly 3,000 square kilometres of land on granted exploration leases and others under application.

Early-stage exploration is continuing with assays pending for another 301 rock chip samples from the landholdings.

From little things big things grow and the early signs at King River’s Mt Remarkable tenure are starting to take shape. With more than 150km strike of host rocks known to host bumper grade gold, the Perth-based company could quickly emerge as an explorer to keep an eye on as it advances its gold hunt in the Kimberley.
