Mining company KalNorth Gold Mines has begun production from its Lindsay’s project near Kalgoorlie, forecasting the production of 40,000 ounces of gold over the next 18 months.
KalNorth Chairman Laurence Freedman said the start of operations represented an important transition for shareholders.
“With production now underway at Lindsay’s Field, we have officially transitioned from gold explorer to gold producer,” Mr Freedman said.
“We have worked hard to execute this transition within a two year time frame and within a cautious budget.
“This is a giant step forward for KalNorth as we are now a highly credible and profitable gold producer.”
At least three more open pit mines have been planned across the KalNorth Gold Field, a gold mining operation 65 kilometres north-east of Kalgoorlie.
Mr Freedman said plans to develop operations at Kurnalpi, Kalpini and Mt Jewell were “well advanced”.
