Perth-based HealthEngine has been chosen by the federal government to build its COVID-19 vaccination booking platform.
That platform will be launched in the coming weeks and will allow patients to book appointments to receive the vaccine at dedicated clinics.
Founder and chief executive Marcus Tan said the platform was being fast-tracked to meet challenging deadlines set by the Department of Health to meet its vaccination targets.
"Given the very tight timeframes involved and the complexity of such a project, we are under no illusions about the challenge we have signed up to," Mr Tan said.
"However, the opportunity to support a historic public health effort involving millions of Australians by assisting the federal government with a very important piece of national digital health infrastructure was one we simply couldn't pass up.
"This project is a huge team effort and we're excited to be an official part of the team."
Approximately 21,000 doses of the CSL-manufactured, AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Perth this month, with emergency service workers and other high-risk workers able to book for a vaccine as of today.
All adults in WA will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine for free once eligible.
More than 75,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered in Australia, with the federal government's stated goal to have all Australians vaccinated against the virus by October.
