Rockingham Park proposes to build two three-storey buildings for 30 apartments and associated parking at 9 Cattalini Lane in North Fremantle.
The Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel unanimously approved the application at its meeting on Tuesday.
Subiaco-based Edge Visionary Living is in the process of purchasing a 4,000-square metre block at 35 Leighton Beach Boulevard, adjoining Rockingham Park’s project site on Cattalini Lane.
The Western Australian Land Authority sold the parcel of land on Leighton Beach Boulevard to Mr Goh in 2015 for $15.4 million, according to industry sources.
The current owner on RP Data is the entity Resort Home Development.
SLR Consulting planner Dan Lees, who spoke on behalf of Edge Visionary Living at the DAP meeting, said his client was formulating a development proposal for the Leighton Beach Boulevard side.
“Our only request today is that the visitor car parking bay…within the shared right of carriage way area is either shifted to the southern end…or is deleted entirely from the approval you may grant today,” he said to the panel.
“Our client’s concern is that the proposed location of this visitor car bay would conflict with the intended location of the vehicle access point and carpark aisle of the future development on their site on Leighton Beach boulevard.”
After several amendments, the panel approved Rockingham Park’s apartment plan for Cattalini Lane.
Summit Homes’ Rockingham Park has resubmitted plans for the site multiple times since 2007, according to planning documents.
The City of Fremantle approved its plan for a five-storey, 51-apartment development in 2008, but the approval has since lapsed.
A 104-dwelling proposal on the North Fremantle site was approved in 2015, and an extension to start construction was greenlit in 2020.
