Jupiter Mines has announced a new-look senior management team, spearheaded by former Portman Mining and Cliffs Natural Resources boss Richard Mehan as managing director.
Mr Mehan has spent more than 25 years in the iron ore and coal sectors, after beginning his career with Rio Tinto in sales, marketing, business development and logistics roles.
Jupiter's chairman, and former BHP Billiton chief executive, Brian Gilbertson, said the appointment would strengthen the ranks of the leadership team as Jupiter expands its asset base.
"We are delighted to have attracted such a talented and experienced executive to Jupiter," Mr Gilbertson said in a statement.
"Richard has an excellent track record of developing and expanding iron ore and coal
projects in Australia."
"These skills will help us consolidate our operations in the Central Yilgarn region, and bring the Mt Ida project into production."
Mr Gilbertson also said Greg Durack had agreed to take over the position of chief operating officer and that Matt Finkelstein was appointed chief financial officer.
"We now have a senior management team in place to support Jupiter's growth in
Australia and South Africa, and in the other markets that we are examining," he said.
At 11:00AM (WST) Jupiter shares had gained 4 per cent, to trade at $0.52.
