Fortescue’s relocation from East Perth to St Georges Terrace is imminent, with the mining giant to take up its new premises by December.
Business News reported last year that the Andrew Forrest-led mining giant would exit its East Perth headquarters to move into Chevron’s former offices at 256 St Georges Terrace.
The company has mounted signage on the building and some staff have already moved across.
Fortescue’s move is described as a staged relocation, which once complete, the company will occupy the entire 22,000 square metres at 256 St Georges Terrace.
Fortescue has occupied 87 Adelaide Terrace in East Perth since 2006, where its lease is due to expire in coming years.
The owners of the Adelaide Terrace asset Tuan Sing Holdings plan to reposition the asset in a bid to secure a new tenant for the property.
Fortescue’s East Perth offices were adjacent to the Hyatt Centre, which was recently rebranded to Residence on Langley Park following Hyatt’s sudden closure in July.
CBRE and Savills are conducting a leasing campaign for 87 Adelaide Terrace.
Fortescue has applied with the City of Perth to build a bike storage facility in the basement of 256 St Georges Terrace.
Singaporean syndicate Evergreen Realty Pty Ltd owns 256 St Georges Terrace, with Australian Securities and Investments Commission records showing Kang Fai Kong, also known as Wilfred Kong, as the majority shareholder.
