Evolution Mining has again picked GR Engineering to deliver a processing plant upgrade, after awarding $68 million worth of work on its Northparkes operation in NSW.
Evolution Mining has again picked GR Engineering Services to deliver a processing plant upgrade, following the award of $68 million worth of work at its Northparkes operation in NSW.
The Belmont-based contractor told the market it had been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the Northparkes coarse particle flotation project.
The Northparkes project is located 300 kilometres west of Sydney and comprises a copper-gold open-pit and underground mining operation, as well as a processing plant.
In February, Evolution Mining greenlit the investment for the coarse particle flotation project to aid copper recovery and improve energy efficiency of the Northparkes processing plant.
The listed miner’s board also approved a $545 million injection into its underground mining operation at Northparkes as part of a suite of growth projects.
On Thursday, GR Engineering told the market that early works had commenced under the contract valued at $68 million. The scope of work will be undertaken by its Brisbane workforce.
The engineering and contracting firm was previously engaged at Evolution Mining’s Mungari project for the process plant expansion to 4.2 million tonnes per annum
For that project, GR Engineering delivered engineering, design, procurement, construction and commissioning of the plant upgrade, 20km west of Kalgoorlie.
GR Engineering managing director Tony Patrizi said the company was pleased to be working again with Evolution Mining following the Mungari project.
“GR Engineering’s well-established Brisbane office will execute this project, following on from their recent successful completion of a large gold EPC project,” he said.
“We see this contract award as a strong endorsement of GR Engineering’s proven process design record and EPC delivery capability.”
Shares in GR Engineering ticked up slightly by 0.5 per cent to $4.16 apiece.
