In recent years, the importance of ESG governance has gained widespread recognition among businesses globally to improve business practices and performance on sustainability and ethical issues.
Verification of impacts of our business activities on the environment as an independent, accurate assessment of our site night lighting means that it needs to stand up to scrutiny for energy efficiency, safety and compliance with standards.
Adequate lighting is necessary for safety and productivity, but it can also be a significant source of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. By implementing energy efficient lighting solutions, businesses can reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint, resulting in cost savings and improved environmental performance.
Solar lighting is an increasingly popular sustainable alternative to traditional site lighting as it uses renewable energy stored from the sunlight to power lighting, reducing the need for grid electricity and associated emissions. Solar lighting systems can be installed in remote locations without the need for trenching or cabling, making them an ideal solution for large outdoor work areas, car parks, pathways and external break areas. From a governance perspective, this ability to not disturb the land through only using surface equipment is a major advantage.
Governance considerations include ensuring that lighting solutions are installed and maintained to the highest standards, with transparent reporting on energy use and associated emissions. Many sites are implementing steep targets for reduction in diesel fuel, so looking at alternatives to power lighting can make a significant impact on reaching these goals.
A local company Earthtrack Group have been supplying and developing mining solar and renewable lighting solutions for over a decade. In recent times they have seen a profound increase in market demand for solar solutions as Australian companies strive to lower site emissions and running costs.
Earthtrack have worked with many companies in both the industrial and mining sectors designing fit-for-purpose lighting solutions that adhere to environmental considerations whilst increase safety and productivity.
Earthtrack provides lighting assessments for existing installations to demonstrate areas for improvement or lighting designs for greenfield projects. The use of precision measuring equipment and software enables us to define achievement of lux levels for safety and no more for greenfield or existing installations, taking into consideration any local environmental concerns to produce pass/fail reports that verify results accurately.
With ESG governance being crucial for businesses in all industries, businesses can take steps to reduce their environmental impact, improve social outcomes, and create long-term value for their stakeholders. Earthtrack Group can help companies reap the benefits of a sustainable and responsible approach to lighting solutions and other ESG considerations.
As businesses increasingly recognise the importance of ESG governance, Earthtrack is currently developing further innovation and investment in environmentally efficient solutions which will lead to more sustainable lighting for businesses and communities alike.
