Natural disaster assistance funding will be provided to West Australian communities hit by Tropical Cyclone Heidi in January.
Federal Emergency Management Minister Robert McClelland on Tuesday announced a range of disaster assistance would be available in the affected areas to support councils, families, local businesses and farmers impacted by the cyclone.
People living in Broome, Leonora, Meekatharra, Port Hedland, Sandstone, Upper Gascoyne and Wiluna will receive assistance jointly funded by the federal and WA governments through the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.
Mr McClelland said assistance was available for restoring damaged public assets as well as certain counter-disaster operations undertaken by local councils.
Individuals suffering from personal hardship as a result of the cyclone may be eligible for emergency assistance and should contact WA's Department of Child Protection on 1800 032 965.
