Businesswoman Paula Rogers has been named as the new head of the Committee for Perth.
Ms Rogers has more than 25 years’ experience in stakeholder management, communications and business development and founded her own firm, Paula Rogers Consulting.
She is the director of executive search firm Stanton Chase and has worked as the state director for the Committee for Economic Development of Australia.
Ms Rogers also sits on the boards of the North Metropolitan Health Service, Edith Cowan College and the Art Gallery of WA Foundation, among others.
Outgoing chief executive Marion Fulker, who was the inaugural leader of the independent organisation, announced she was stepping down from the position in October.
Ms Rogers said the new role was her dream job.
“I fell in love with this special place when I arrived in 2002 to live with my young family,” she said.
“The iridescent, neverending blue sky, the climate, our Indigenous heritage, the industry and economic opportunity all have me hooked and this is my forever home.
“Now I have a role that allows me to put my passion into practice.”
Committee for Perth chairman Tony Joyner said he was pleased the organisation had recruited an outstanding candidate.
“Paula is known for her collaborative and strategically driven leadership, and she is passionate about helping WA flourish and grow,” he said.
“Her leadership role with the Committee for Perth is a perfect match for her career experience, which includes financial publishing, event management, membership and stakeholder engagement, marketing and communications.
“The board and I are looking forward to working with Paula on our new strategic plan and harnessing opportunities to position Perth as a global destination where people want to live, work, invest, study and visit.”
Ms Rogers said she was looking forward to building on the committee's achievements.
“I am now looking forward to exploring even more ways to engage with our members and the board for the future advancement and promotion of Perth and Western Australia’s place on the global stage,” she said.
“I believe Perth is on a path to greater economic diversification and opportunity.
“The Committee for Perth will continue to develop evidence-based research, thought leadership and business development opportunities for our members.”
